Home Care-Registered Nurse

Positions currently available to work in Woodland Cree and Lubicon Lake, AB The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council is seeking kind, caring and compassionate Registered Nurse to become part of their Health Care Team in the geographic areas of the Loon River, Lubicon Lake, Peerless Trout and Woodland Cree First Nations! Under the guidance of the Home Care Nurse/Coordinator, the HCN will plan, implement and provide front line home nursing care and treatment services within the Home Care Program – ensuring that all program initiatives reflect the cultural values, traditions and customs of the respective Band / Nation. • Provide direct nursing care and health education to clients and families.
• Provide personal care to clients
• Coordinate and provide day-to-day home care services and treatments to clients.
• Receive referrals for clients across their life span with varying health care needs.
• Collaborate and coordinate services with other agencies as required.
• Work independently as required.
• Ability to maintain accurate health records and fulfill reporting requirements.
• Ability to deliver health promotion, prevention and education programs.
• Effective interaction with clients, families, staff, supervisors and supporting agencies.
• Ensure that all program initiatives reflect the cultural values, traditions and customs of the Nation.


Education and Qualifications:
• Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with C.A.R.N.A.
• Valid and current Level C Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Standard First Aid HCP Certificates.
• Computer literacy – certification and/or training in entry level usage


Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
• Diploma from an accredited Registered Nurse Program – additional certificates related to Home Care Nursing are an asset.
• A minimum of three years of experience in Home Care Nursing is preferred.  Five years experience in acute care may be considered as a minimum.
• Excellent and effective decision-making skills, oral and written skills, assessment skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, teaching skills and supervisory skills are required.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with other care providers.
• Willing, capable and flexible in working to meet the needs of the health department.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Cree culture, organizations and communities
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of indigenous health care concerns and issues


Additional Requirements:
• Possesses valid driver’s license & able to provide a drivers abstract.
• Submission of clear Police Information Check & Child Intervention Check
• Oath of Confidentiality must be signed prior to commencing employment.
